Charter Airport
Otter Air Services
Van Dyken Mechanical was proud to partner with Otter Air Services on the construction of its new 37,800-square-foot private charter airport facility in Grand Rapids. Working in a design-assist role, our team collaborated closely with the owner and project partners to develop mechanical systems that would support the facility’s high-end appearance, occupant comfort, and long-term operational performance. The project included the installation of two air handling units with associated condensing units, three boilers with hydronic distribution systems, hot water reheat VAV terminal units, destratification fans, cabinet unit heaters, and a comprehensive snowmelt system.
One of the most notable features of the project was the extensive hydronic infrastructure required throughout the facility. More than 20 miles of in-floor heating and snowmelt tubing were installed to provide year-round comfort and safe exterior surfaces across the site. The project also included large double-wall duct systems with acoustic lining to support quiet operation and enhance the premium experience expected within a private aviation environment.
The completed facility combines sophisticated mechanical systems with architectural excellence to create a comfortable, efficient, and welcoming environment for passengers, guests, and staff. We are honored to have played a role in bringing this impressive aviation facility to life and helping Otter Air Services deliver a first-class experience from the ground up.
