The fairlife Texas Line 7 project was a major facility expansion designed to increase production capacity, enhance operational capabilities, and support the continued growth of the Coopersville campus. The project required extensive collaboration among the owner, design team, general contractor, and trade partners, with hundreds of individuals contributing throughout the planning and construction process. Because the project began before all design details were fully defined, the team relied on continuous coordination, design-assist efforts, and workforce flexibility to successfully adapt to evolving project requirements.
Van Dyken Mechanical played a key role in the process piping scope, supporting the installation and integration of new production equipment, including multiple air handling units, exhaust fans, a 325-ton chiller, an 1,100 HP steam boiler, high- and low-pressure air compressors, and other specialized process systems. The project involved a wide range of piping materials, from carbon steel to high-grade stainless steel, with pipe sizes reaching up to 24 inches in diameter and total installed lengths extending for miles throughout the facility. The expansion included new areas for product unloading, storage, transfer, production, and shipping, while also supporting broader site improvements for warehousing, employee spaces, and operational infrastructure.
One of the project’s greatest challenges was managing ongoing design development while construction was already underway, as well as integrating existing production equipment into the new system layout. Success depended on close collaboration between all project stakeholders and a shared commitment to problem-solving as designs evolved. Through proactive coordination and technical expertise, the project team delivered a complex process piping system that supports fairlife’s expanded production capabilities and long-term operational goals.
