West Michigan Beef

Van Dyken Mechanical partnered with West Michigan Beef Company on the construction of its new processing facility, providing both engineering and installation services for the building’s HVAC and mechanical systems. Our scope included ductwork and gas piping, as well as the installation of exhaust fans, air curtains, louvers, unit heaters, split systems, and rooftop units. The project also featured extensive stainless steel ductwork for process-related exhaust and supply air systems, including all rooftop duct installations.

To support occupant comfort in the office areas, VDM designed and installed a variable air volume (VAV) system with boiler reheat and zone controls, allowing for individualized temperature management throughout the space. One of the more unique aspects of the project was the installation of a 6-inch stainless steel piping system for the facility’s paunch cannon, which uses compressed air to convey stomach contents from the processing area to designated waste containers. The project required close coordination between building comfort systems and specialized process equipment to meet the operational needs of the facility.
